I added this in memory of my mother

Yesterday I received the most surprising and heart-warming letter that I want to share with you because this is exactly why I love to teach:

Dear Ms. Martinez:

My sister and I attended one of your cooking demonstrations at The Silo about ten years ago, I want to thank you for something you explained about how your parents did not spoil you by buying you things but rather splurged on experiences, like breakfast in bed at the Plaza. I have thought about that frequently in the intervening years and I am glad that  I have at least tried to avoid the needless accumulation of things.  Of course your cookbooks are worth the space they take up and enhance our experiences of dining with friends and family

Thank you for passing on your parents’ wisdom.

Isn’t that lovely? Beautifully hand-written thank you notes are to be treasured in this drop a quick email days though it is better than nothing!
